There are two levels of summer camp offered: Beginner Camp for riders who have some horseback experience and can stop and steer and Intermediate Camp for riders who have more experience and can walk/trot independently. You may want to consider riding lessons at SVF for your child before camp sessions begin if they have little or no experience. Camp sessions are kept to a small number of riders to ensure that each camper receives our full attention. Spring Valley Farm has a full-time instructor and camp aides available throughout the camp sessions for a ratio of 3 to 1 (rider to instructor).
Our five day camp sessions emphasize basic horsemanship skills. Riders learn the basics of horse and stable management such as grooming, tacking up, stall and tack cleaning, basic first aid and wrapping. Riders have riding lessons and watch fun and educational videos, play horse games and do arts and crafts. Each session runs Monday thru Friday from 9am to 4pm and includes lunch and snacks.
SVF reserves the right to cancel a camp session if it is not full and riders will be offered a spot in another session. Please register early to reserve your space.
